MANANTHAVADY: Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom of the Mananthavady Diocese has lashed out at the police for registering a case in connection with the Pulpally conflict. The clash occurred in Pulpally during the hartal in protest against wildlife attacks. Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom said that the cases registered by the police regarding the incident should be withdrawn. He said this during a program attended by the Governor at Mananthavady Bishop House.

"Police have booked several young men and women. Among these, many are planning to go abroad. The case will affect their future. Will the problem in Wayanad be solved by registering a case? The government should pay more attention in this regard. Government interventions are not quick enough and the bureaucratic system does not intervene efficiently when there are problems," Bishop said.

On Sunday, the police arrested two people in connection with the clash that took place during the protest in Pulpally. The arrested people are Kurichippatta native Shiju and Pulpally native Vasu. The police, which registered four FIRs in the incident, booked around 100 people.
